Ethos is an academic survey, analytics, and writer suite for institutions, teaching labs, and research teams. It comes in 2 editions. Ethos Community is downloaded and run on your own hardware. Ethos Pro is a hosted service. Neither is available yet.
What It Covers
Ethos is intended for research and teaching environments that need one integrated system for instrument building, response collection, statistical analysis, and reproducible report generation. The current architecture includes a survey builder, an analytics chain covering quality reporting through to EFA readiness and CFA lavaan syntax output, and a downloadable HTML report.
The 2 Editions
The edition split was settled on 7 September 2026.
Ethos Community is downloaded and self-hosted. Everything runs on your own hardware, with no external calls, no CDNs, and no telemetry. That guarantee describes Community specifically, and it is the edition the promise was written for.
Ethos Pro is a hosted service, and it is not offered as a download. It adds an approval workflow, organisation administration, and audit export on top of Community. Pro is at an early scaffolding stage. Nothing in it is finished, and none of it should be read as available.
What Is Available Now
Nothing is available to download or sign up for. The work in progress is an end-to-end analytics chain powered by surveyframe 0.4.1, which is on CRAN and can be used on its own today (install.packages("surveyframe")). That chain defines an instrument, imports CSV responses, runs quality reporting, scores scales, checks reliability and EFA readiness, generates CFA lavaan syntax for structural planning, and renders a downloadable HTML report.
The interface is mid-rebuild, so the screens shown here will change.
PLS-SEM, CB-SEM, and structural equation model execution are not built. They arrive in surveyframe 0.5, which has not started and carries no date.
Current Stage
The product is in alpha and the interface is being rebuilt. This page explains the direction of the suite while access and pilots are still being scoped. Treat everything described here as intent, not as shipped software.
Access And Limitations
Ethos is not available, in either edition. There is no download, no hosted sign-up, and no public beta. Pilot and update requests are handled through the form below while the alpha is stabilised and the interface rebuild finishes. Pricing and deployment scope are not published yet, because pilot use is being discussed case by case with institutions and research teams.
